| Pregnancy Tests & Investigations Urine Test This test is performed after the 6 weeks of the last menstrual period to the 16 weeks. It's a diagnostic test depend on the presence of Human Chorionic Gonodotropin (HCG) in the urine. HCG is found concentrated form in the first urine passed in the early morning. If it performed before the six weeks or later sixteen weeks will get negative result Routine Test In each antenatal visit the midstream urine is examined for the presence of sugar, protein, Ketones witch cause potential problems & the presence of bacteria in the early pregnancy where antibiotic treatment is given to prevent further problems
Routine Blood Test
This test is done for Hemoglobin estimation, detecting anemic, blood group, rhesus factor to find out cross-match blood in the event hemorrhage during pregnancy, labor or puerperium rhesus incompatibility between mother & infant blood types, serological test for syphilis, rubella or other types of infection
Ultrasound
Diagnostic ultrasound is commonly used in obstetric for the identification of early pregnancy, accurate pregnancy dating, assessment fetal growth, early, diagnosis of multiple pregnancy, estimation of fetal health, diagnosis of certain abnormalities, localization of placental site & amniocentesis
Amniocentesis Amniotic fluid is taken from the uterus for analysis of detection of fetal abnormalities such as Down's Syndrome, open neural tube defects, identification of sex in sex-linked disorder such as hemophilia & identification of any complications include abortion & preterm labor Antenatal Cardiotocography
Fetal heart rate trace can be recorded. A normal trace shows a fetal heart rate(100-160) beats per minute and abnormalities may give warning to deliver fetus & indication are low movement count, multiple pregnancy
